Brodart Keystone Select Circulation Desk
1.) Is it Modular?
Modular units can be rearranged easily if patron traffic patterns
change or in the event of renovation or expansion.
Brodart-manufactured circulation desks can be added to at any time.
2.) Is it Assembled?
Setting up your new circulation desk shouldn’t give you a headache.
With a pre-assembled desk, you simply unpack it and set it in
place—and it’s ready to use. And if your floors are uneven, leveling
glides are essential. Brodart-manufactured circulation desks ship
fully assembled—and are equipped with chrome leveling glides.
3.) Is it Built to Last?
Quality construction is very important. Don’t settle for a
"laminate" wood-look desk. A quality desk has solid hardwood edge
bands, not flimsy laminate bands or T-molding. You want your desk to
last—and Brodart-manufactured desks will. Our desks are solidly
built—and warranted for a full five years.
4.) Is it ADA Compliant?
ADA-accessible desks make it easier for disabled patrons to use
your library. Brodart offers a desk unit that meets all ADA
requirements.
5.) Is it Designed for Wire Management?
Today’s library demands wire management. Make sure that your
circulation desk modules have work-surface and end-panel grommets for
cable passage from desk to desk. Also, a J-channel mounted to the
underside of each module keeps wires off from the floor and away from
employees’ feet. Brodart-manufactured circulation desks are
designed for wire management. And they can be hardwired by a local
qualified electrician at additional cost.
6.) Can You Get All The Pieces You Need?
You’ll need a single- or double-wide desk module at sitting height
for your "work" area. Next, add a standing-height single- or
double-wide desk module with a patron ledge—and, if necessary, choose
a corner unit to provide an "L" shape. A book return unit and matching
receiving cart will complete your desk. Choose a cart that is
spring-loaded—it will cushion the book or media as it’s returned.
A variety of different modules—as well as coordinating book returns
and carts—are available for all Brodart circulation desks.
Once you’ve decided on the desk that’s right for you, follow these
simple layout/accessory tips—and you’ll find happiness with your new
furniture for decades to come.
- Leave an opening at each end of your desk to provide easy entry and
exit for you, your staff, and your book trucks. Single- or
double-action gates can be added to any Brodart-manufactured
circulation desk.
- Accessorize your desk with deep storage units, flat storage shelves,
and at least one lockable drawer to hold your cash box or other
valuables. Brodart offers a wide selection of budget-priced
circulation desk accessories.
- Add computer monitors and keyboard trays to the work surface as
needed. Not all librarians are the same size—and if various staff will
be using the desk, adjustability is a must. You can also mount your
CPU holder underneath the work surface to free up desk space.
Ergonomic keyboard trays, wrist rests, and mouse pads allow for more
comfortable computing—and are available from Brodart.
